Hand UP Luncheon Fundraiser

Hand UP Luncheon presented by Spraker Wealth Management

The most educational and inspirational lunch hour of the year!

The Annual Hand Up Luncheon is our most important fundraising event of the year and volunteers are needed to host tables to ensure the event is well attended. The Luncheon is a valuable opportunity for the Orlando UP Center to be a voice for the families we serve every day, while educating friends and neighbors about the challenges we face as a community. The Luncheon includes a complimentary lunch followed by a program filled with must-hear stories from our members, eye-opening statistics, and meaningful ways we can join together to move the needle on poverty in this community.

As a Table Host, you are asked to fill a table with eight people, including yourself by personally* inviting those in your network to join you at your table for the luncheon. Inviting your contacts to the event to learn more about the work of United Against Poverty increases the potential for building additional support in the community for the mission. You will have invitations that you will write in your name at the top, so that each invitee will receive a formal invitation that is personalized. It is likely that you will need to invite 15 people to ensure that you table is filled. More information about this year’s Luncheon can be found here.

Free Registration

Eventbrite is used to register table hosts and attendees. It is critical that all guests register before the event to have sufficient time to arrange for adequate catering and prepared name tags. The event is going to be held on Friday, October 4 from 11:55 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Orlando. The deadline for registration is October 2, 2019.

Day of the Event

  • Arrive at the venue early to allow for parking, collecting your packet*, and finding your table.
  • Greet your guests and thank them for attending. Be certain to share why you are involved with the mission of the organization.
  • Toward the end of the program, when asked by the speaker, personally hand the envelopes in your packet to your guests, one at a time. Please do not distribute them until instructed to hand them out.
  • Encourage everyone to complete the envelope, even if they are not able to make a gift at the current time. They can indicate an interest in learning more, finding out about volunteer opportunities, scheduling a tour or receiving updates on the UP Center. Couples only need to complete one envelope. Set an example, by filling out your own pledge envelope.
  • Ask everyone to return the completed envelopes to you before they leave and return them to the collection basket.
  • If you have time and would like to help more, come back to the Center where we will be hosting a thank-a-thon to call everyone who made a gift that same day.

* Packet – your packet will contain pledge envelopes and other items to distribute to your guests.
