The Volunteer Income Tax Assistant program is a unique way to change lives in the Central Florida community by preparing and submitting tax returns for those with low income. Those who meet certain income requirements to partake in the program benefit by having their taxes prepared by a trained volunteer who understands the credits applicable to their current situation. On average, those who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit receive a return of over $6,000. This is one of the best ways to truly help our neighbors and friends increase their available income.
As a volunteer with VITA, you will become an IRS tax certified volunteer either through online certification or one of the many in person training opportunities.
