Programs Designed To Empower

Our Life Enrichment Center serves as a place where those in crisis care, case management, transformative education, food and household subsidy, employment training and placement, personal empowerment training and active referrals to other collaborative social service providers.

Passport to Prosperity

The Passport to Prosperity Program provides participants the opportunity to earn points by attending one of our five daily life skills classes, volunteering on campus, or by completing a step on their personal care plan (such as meeting with a substance abuse counselor or obtaining a driver’s license). These points may be redeemed for food vouchers, bus passes or gas cards to reward the individual and help ensure they return to campus for the continuation of the program. Upon completion, students may be eligible for tuition assistance for continued education.

STEP Program

The Success Training Employment Program is an in-depth six week program focusing on emotional intelligence, empowerment training, workplace skills and job acquisition, followed by a second eight weeks of placement in job internships, job coaching and mentoring. Graduates of STEP have the opportunity to enroll in a certification program of their choice at Orange Technical College, with tuition covered by United Against Poverty.

In partnership with Orange County Public Schools, an on-site GED Preparation Course is offered in three month terms. Comprised of six hours of weekly instruction in the subjects of Math, English, Social Sciences and History, students are better equipped to pass the exam and earn their high school diploma.
