UP GROCERY ANNOUNCES ADJUSTMENT OF HOURS RELATED TO THE CORONAVIRUS

Effective March 19, Member Share Grocery Program hours at our three UP Centers located in Orlando, Indian River County and St. Lucie County will transition to be Monday - Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., with our Orlando and St. Lucie County locations also operating Sundays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. To streamline our operations to focus on the increased need at our main Indian River UP Center, our satellite grocery program located in South Vero Beach will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.

As we continue to focus on serving the community during this increased time of need, our programs remain available to low-income families.

For more details on our response to this ever-changing situation, including the enhanced precautionary measures we are taking to protect every person who steps foot onto each of our campuses, please click here.

In stressful situations, many of our neighbors turn to United Against Poverty for information, direction and reassurance. Now more than ever, we are deeply grateful for your support.

What is STEP?

The Success Training Employment Program (STEP) is a program dedicated to enhancing job-readiness skills. The first four weeks are made up of in-class discussion-based learning in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Empowerment Training, Workplace Skills and Job Acquisition. Following graduation students work with our Workforce Development Manager and Success Coach to help them get hired and stay employed. For more detailed information, please read our STEP FAQ.

Who is Welcome?

Any and every adult 18+ is welcome to participate. The content is designed for those interested in developing a career, who have experienced difficulties finding or keeping a job, or interested in improving their current employment position. We also work with individuals who may have difficulty obtaining employment because of a lack of a GED, have a criminal record, are unstably housed, or lack transportation.

Program Benefits

By participating in STEP, students develop a close community to encourage personal growth. STEP students receive assistance through our Member Share Grocery Program vouchers, bus passes, gas cards or tuition assistance. Participants also have access to social networks created with potential employers in the Central Florida community.

Enrollment

STEP classes take place on the UP Orlando campus daily Monday through Thursday, from 8:45 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. For all STEP cycle start dates, please click here. To register, complete the form below, contact our Life Enrichment Center at 407-650-0774 ext 1721 or email our Community Engagement Coordinator, Stevia Hunes at Stevia@UpCenters.org for more information.
