The Success Training Employment Program (STEP) is a program dedicated to enhancing job-readiness skills. The first six weeks is made up of in-class discussion-based learning in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Empowerment Training, Workplace Skills and Job Acquisition. Following graduation students work with a job coach and success coach to help them get hired and stay employed.
Who is Welcome?
Any and every adult 18+ is welcome to participate. The content is designed for those interested in developing a career, who have experienced difficulties finding or keeping a job, or interested in improving their current employment position. We also work with individuals who may have difficulty obtaining employment because of a lack of a GED, have a criminal record, are unstably housed, or lack transportation. Potential new students should complete an interest form and submit to Carla Cox, Programs Director, at Carla@upcenters.org.
By participating in STEP, students develop a close community to encourage personal growth. STEP students receive assistance through our Member Share Grocery Program vouchers, bus passes, gas cards or tuition assistance. Participants also have access to social networks created with potential employers in the Central Florida community.
STEP classes take place on the UP Orlando campus daily Monday through Friday, from 8:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Enrollment for new sessions takes place in January, February, April, June, August and October.
